Remote role on a distributed team (core working hours are midday Eastern Time)

What you’ll do:

As the TikTok and Instagram creator for Block Party, you'll bring social media privacy and safety to life for people, helping them understand just how high the stakes are in the age of generative AI, and giving them the info and tools they need to reclaim their online experience. You'll keep close tabs on the algorithm and adjust content strategy fluidly to fit what's working today (and tomorrow, and tomorrow...). You'll showcase the real risks and real stories of everyday people facing online attacks, find the privacy angle in everything from news to key life moments like searching for a job, and use humor and emotional storytelling to create urgency and enthusiasm in our audience. You'll also sometimes have to figure out how to make social media settings tutorials interesting. This role is part-time to start, targeting 20 hours a week, with opportunities to expand to full-time.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated success growing a short form video channel for yourself or a brand
  • Deep love for storytelling
  • Strong social video production, graphic design, and editing skills
  • Experience generating content quickly in response to breaking news or trends
  • Enthusiasm to try lots of things and iterate very quickly
  • Exceptional judgment and taste when it comes to digital content—we all know how cringy corporate social and content can get
  • Ability to execute in a remote startup environment
  • Curiosity, humility, a desire to learn and grow and to help others learn and grow
  • Passion for thoughtful, ethical technology

Nice-to-haves, but not required:

  • Professional experience creating content for a brand
  • Experience at an early stage startup
  • Experience at a consumer social platform company
  • Experience with privacy / trust and safety / moderation / anti-abuse
  • Experience with growth marketing (affiliate, influencer, paid media)
