Remote role on a distributed team (core working hours are midday Eastern Time)

What you’ll do:

As operations manager, you’ll ensure the smooth functioning of all business operations and help the whole team run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. You’ll work closely with the CEO to operationalize a wide range of functions and figure out best practices for a growing business.

Sample responsibilities:

Finance and accounting

  • Maintain budget and financial model
  • Monitor financial data and recommend solutions that will improve profitability
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Manage payroll for US and UK companies
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel, payroll and tax services to ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed
  • Coordinate with external bookkeeping service to ensure books are up-to-date

Recruiting and hiring

  • Schedule interviews and liaise with candidates
  • Research and prepare offer packages
  • Onboard new hires so they are up and running as soon as possible

Processes

  • Be responsible for maintaining our current business processes
  • Ensure team meetings are run efficiently by coordinating meetings and attendees, working with meeting leads to prepare agendas, and tracking decisions and action items
  • Stay on top of the company calendar by spotting clashes and always looking ahead
  • Identify opportunities and suggest solutions to improve how we work

Customer support

  • Implement customer support processes to improve customer satisfaction
  • Respond to customer support issues
  • Synthesize and relay user feedback to product team to inform prioritization and future product development
  • Design and conduct user research surveys to understand customer needs and business opportunities

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 1-2 years of ops experience at a tech startup
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Good judgment and the ability to prioritize amongst many disparate concerns and make thoughtful decisions with imperfect information
  • A proactive, independent mindset and the ability to take ownership of work items with minimal structure and guidance
  • Curiosity, love of learning, and an innate push for continuous improvement
  • Detail orientation, e.g. ability to read and edit contracts
  • Persistence and follow-through
