Company Description: Block Party is a seed-stage tech startup building powerful consumer tools for online safety and privacy. People described our flagship product for Twitter as “bloody marvellous”, “the only thing that makes [Twitter] bearable”, and “v good app 10/10 much recommend”. Our new product, Privacy Party, now in beta, has earned rave reviews of “amazing”, “fucking magic”, and “an essential extension if you access any social media sites”.
We’re a team of Stanford, Harvard, Yale, and MIT alums led by founder and CEO Tracy Chou (early engineer at Pinterest, Quora, and Facebook; 2022 Time Woman of the Year; Forbes 30 under 30) and backed by world class investors like Precursor and Stellation. More about us on the company website.
Why you’re excited about this role: Block Party offers a rare combination of exceptional product, important mission, strong brand loyalty, and a total greenfield to build go-to-market from the ground up. Company processes and culture have been carefully cultivated since the early days, so you get all the speed and ambiguity of early stage startups with none of the unforced errors and operational chaos to hold you back. You’ll play a critical role in leading the Block Party team, fostering a culture that encourages everyone to participate in the growth of the business. And you get to do all this in partnership with a team of smart, enthusiastic, genuinely nice experts in their respective fields.
What you’ll do: As Growth and Marketing Lead, you’ll build and lead all go-to-market efforts for Privacy Party and future Block Party products, responsible for driving installs and usage. You’ll hone our consumer messaging and positioning, and translate it into compelling, full-funnel campaigns. You’ll cultivate an eager, highly engaged audience across multiple social channels, infusing our brand with urgency and emotion to help spur our users to action. You’ll take an iterative and experimental approach to developing distribution channels, laying the foundations for explosive (but ultimately sustainable!) growth. You’ll invest in the exceptional community that our first product developed, and find ways to expand to new groups of people who will most benefit from greater control over their online experiences. You’ll prioritize ruthlessly and develop well-documented growth systems that make it easy to move quickly, place bets fearlessly, and learn as much as possible along the way.
